President William Ruto has said that incidents of abductions and extra-judicial killings are no longer happening under his leadership.

Speaking during an interview with an international TV station on Sunday, November 9, 2025, the Head of State dismissed claims that his government has been targeting its critics.

Ruto said that those making the allegations have failed to provide evidence to support their claims.

He challenged individuals who claim that people have been abducted to come forward and provide details, including names and dates, instead of making general statements.

“I can tell you, none of those people… I have told them, I have told people who claim so and so were abducted to step forward and tell the nation who they were, and when they were abducted. When you tell them to come out, they don’t want to; they want to make general statements,” Ruto said during the interview.

The president said that such reports were misleading and aimed at tarnishing the image of his administration.

Ruto said Kenya had come from a dark past where enforced disappearances and extra-judicial killings were rampant.

He recalled that in the past, bodies of missing persons were discovered in various parts of the country, a situation he said has now ended.

The President maintained that since he took office, there have been no incidents of Kenyans being executed or abducted by security agencies.

I am telling you that we are coming from a very dangerous background where, forget about people disappearing.

“Bodies were discovered in different places in the country. Today, there are no incidences of Kenyans being executed. I committed to end it, and I did,” Ruto has said.

He said he made a firm commitment to stop the killings and disappearances that had become common during previous regimes.

According to Ruto, his government has focused on reforms within the security sector to ensure accountability and respect for the rule of law.

He said that those spreading false claims about abductions were ignoring the progress his administration has made in restoring order and protecting civil liberties.

The President’s remarks come amid ongoing public debate over alleged harassment of political activists and critics.

Ruto insisted that his government values human life and is committed to upholding justice, transparency, and freedom of expression.
